Rico Brinson vs Levon Kinley for the Lightweight belt to co-headline BFL 20

Battlefield Fight League returns home on November 24 with a main event featuring the best amateur contest possible in B.C. between David Kennedy (5-0 BFL) and Leo Xavier (3-1 BFL) for the former’s welterweight belt. But in case that’s somehow not enough, Battlefield is glad to announce it will treat fight fans to two additional title matches in Vancouver that night.

Rico Brinson vs Levon Kinley for the Lightweight belt to co-headline BFL 20

For those counting, that means three thrilling BFL title fights and a stacked amateur fight card all on one great night at BFL20: “Kennedy vs Xavier”!

Speaking of historic happenings, the BFL amateur lightweight belt will be up for grabs for the very first time at BFL20 between Levon Kinley (2-0 BFL) and Rico Brinson (4-0 1-0 BFL). These worthy combatants are as physically huge as they are massively talented, as each is known to make a significant cut on weigh-in day.

Having stopped his two previous Battlefield fights in under two rounds via submission, Kinley will surely seek to stick to that script by forcing his opponent to choose between tap, nap, or snap on November 24. In so doing, Kinley would appropriately set the stage for is Universal MMA teammate, jiu jitsu ace and submissions master Leo Xavier. Looking to keep all four limbs intact and his airways open long enough to walk away a winner over Kinley will be powerhouse wrestler Rico Brinson. A fighter who is becoming more well-rounded almost by the hour, Brinson has still rarely seen an opportunity perform a devastating power-slam or stifling guard-pass that he couldn’t take with ease.

This battle to become the first BFL amateur lightweight champion seems primed to play out as a ground war of slick submissions against punishing positions, but savvy fans will be ready for anything, as none can confidently state how these fighter’s comparable skill sets will stack up in the cage.

That includes BFL President Jay Golshani, who said this of the bout,

“Rico has has pretty much dominated every fight he has taken part in so far, but for the first time in his career he faces an equally skilled opponent on the mat, and someone physically strong enough to compete with him. Kinley vs. Brinson is a huge title fight between two guys who have looked unstoppable so far.”

Rounding out the trifecta of title scraps is a featherweight title bout between divisional downward drifter and longtime Battlefield star Andre Silva (2-2 BFL) against Dillan Brown (6-2 AM-MMA), another fighter seeking complete BFL redemption in a lighter division. According to Golshani, fans can expect constant action in this fantastic featherweight contest,

“Dillan’s fights are always fast paced and Andre also likes to push forward. On paper, Andre Silva vs. Dillan Brown has the makings of fight of the night. With former champion Jeremy Kennedy vacating the belt to join our pro circuit, Silva and Brown are now the province’s top amateur featherweights and the winner leaves the cage on November 24th with the featherweight strap of B.C.’s biggest fight promotion.”

There you have it, BFL fans.

If you live anywhere near Vancouver’s vibrant downtown, there is no reason to miss all the great action at BFL20, including three potentially spectacular title fights, live and in person in the historic Vogue Theatre on November 24.

If you live somewhere else? Then you’d better pack your lunch pail, bub, ’cause you can’t miss this!

Tickets for BFL 20 in Vancouver will be available soon at BFLTix.com. Also this November, watch for tickets to two great BFL Pro MMA events in Penticton, B.C.
