Riki Fukuda scratched from ROAD FC 013 due to ‘infection’

South Korean fans will have to wait a little longer to see former UFC vet Riki Fukuda in action with ROAD Fighting Championship.

The promotion announced via the Facebook platform that the 32-year-old will not be competing at ROAD FC 013, due to an infection picked up during training camp.

Riki Fukuda scratched from ROAD FC 013 due to ‘infection’

Here’s what the statement read:

“ROAD Fighting Championship unfortunately announces the delay of Riki Fukuda’s first appearance.

Riki Fukuda was signed by ROAD FC and scheduled to fight Kim Hee-Seung on October 12th, 2013 in Gumi South Korea on the Main Card of ROAD FC 013. Riki has an infection which will not allow him to fight during his recuperation. ROAD FC wishes Riki a very fast and safe recovery so that he can make his debut on the next ROAD FC event.”

Fukuda (19-7) was scheduled to face Team Posse’s Hee Seung Kim (6-1) on the main card portion of ROAD FC 013. However, now that Fukuda’s out, ROAD FC opted not to find Kim a new opponent and has instead decided to scratch the entire fight altogether.

ROAD FC 013 takes place October 12th at the J.H Park Stadium in Gumi, South Korea. The event is set to be headlined by a ROAD FC Lightweight championship bout pitting Nam Yui-Chul against Kume Takasuke.

A ‘LIVE’ stream of the event can be viewed, here.
