Rise FC 4 Preview

Rise Fighting Championship invades Victoria, BC on July 27th to bring RISE FC 4 to the area. RISE FC brings the professional debuts of 4 fighters and 2 championship title fights. The welterweight title is on the line in the co-main event and the lightweight title is being defended in the main event.

Featherweight: Walter Barrios vs. Mitch Strazzella

RISE FC 4 starts off with an exciting amateur fight with two local Victoria fighters, Walter Barrios and Mitch Strazella. Both fighters will be looking for redemption as they each lost their last fight.

Welterweight: Dave Puhky vs. Stu Deleurme

Dave Puhky is making his professional debut against Stu Deleuurme who has a record of 1-2. Both fighters are stepping back into the cage after 4 years off.

Middleweight: Keanan Kellar vs. James Foster

Keanan Kellar is making his professional debut after an impressive amateur record of 5-1. Kellar will be fighting James Foster who is coming off of his first professional loss. Foster has impressive power in his striking so look to see Kellar try to grapple in this fight.

Lightweight: Josh Kwiatkowski vs. Grant Gorsegner

A Canadian vs American match up as Gorsegner is making making his professional debut against “Bubblesmash” Josh Kwiatkowski. These fighters love to put on a show so i would be surprised if someone didn’t get a finish in this fight.

Welterweight: Bryce Gougeon vs. Jayden Martin

Gougeon who is looking for a bounce back after dropping his first 2 fights will be across the cage from Jayden Martin who is making his professional debut. Both fighters posses knockout power in their striking but are also comfortable if it turns into a grappling match.

Bantamweight: Jamie Siraj vs. Bryce Sigvaldason

This fight will determine the number one contender in the Rise bantamweight division and could also provide the most entertaining fight on the card. Neither of these fighters like to leave the fights in the judges hands. Sigvaldason has 2 wins by submission and 1 by doctor stoppage, Siraj has 4 wins by submission and 2 by TKO.

Co Main Event: Saeid Mirzaei vs Nicolae Cury

The co main event will see Saeid Mirzaei stepping in on short notice to take on Nicolae Cury for the RISE FC welterweight championship. Michael Hill was expected to challenge Cury in this fight but the news broke last week that Hill had to withdraw due to an undisclosed injury. Saeid Mirzaei is always ready to go and gladly accepted the fight when RISE called. Don’t be surprised if this turns into a grappling match as both fighters have impressive jiu jitsu.

Main Event: Tristan Connelly vs. D’Juan Owens

The main event of RISE FC 4 will see D’Juan Owens head back into Canadian territory for a lightweight title fight against Tristan Connelly. Owens last fought in Canada at Rise FC 3 where he was victorious with a split decision win over Sabah Fadai which he showed a strong technical striking approach. Although D’Juan has 6 submission wins, Connelly who is a jiu jitsu blackbelt will try and dominate that aspect of this fight, 9 of his 12 victories have come via submission.
