ROAD FC – Korea 002 Results: Lee tops Terashima in main event

Lee Yun-Jun defeats Kosuke Terashima in the main event via Unanimous Decision

The second installment of ROAD FC – Korea took place on March 9th in Seoul, South Korea, in front of a sold-out crowd at the Grand Hilton Convention Centre.

ROAD FC – Korea 002 Results: Lee tops Terashima in main event

As previously mentioned, a ‘PANCRASE vs. ROAD FC’ theme was in place for the event. Fighters from Japan’s most historic PANCRASE mixed martial arts promotion, were invited to feature in this ‘Nations Fight’ series. PANCRASE was represented by three fighters, who faced three ROAD FC opponents on the night.

“This is the first time we held a ‘Nations Fight'”, said Jung Moon-Hong, CEO of ROAD Fighting Championship. “Pancrase has a very long history so I am very proud this organization can be a part of this event.”

The main event pitted a Bantamweight battle between Kosuke Terashima and Lee Yoon-Jun, in a fight that delivered three rounds of non-stop action. Terashima showed heart with a late surge in the final frame, but Lee’s trademark kicks and all-round better grappling game throughout the previous stanzas eventually garnered him the judges’ decision.

In the co-main event, Ben Buchan faced Lee Hyung-Seok at 155-lbs. Buchan had the better of the ground exchanges in the first round, scoring takedowns and asserting his control in dominant positions. Lee, however, did very well to adapt to his opponent’s game in the second frame. He struck Buchan hard and took him down onto the canvas before executing a fight-ending Rear Naked Choke.

Ryo Takagi, in his Batamweight bout with Han Yi-Moon at ROAD FC – Korea 002

At 145-lbs, Ryo Takagi took on Han Yi-Moon in a battle of MMA starlets. Although they engaged in a striking battle, it was Han’s authority on the mat which gave him the opportunity to take Takagi’s back for a third round Rear-Naked Choke victory.

In the only women’s bout of the night, Kim Ji-Yeon and Takayo Hashi showcased their ferociousness inside the cage. Kim was precise with her boxing and that opened a cut on Hashi early. The latter, on the other hand, was successful with her ground attacks, although Kim made it difficult for her to take the fight to the canvas. The fight was declared a draw after the judges were unable to render a winner.

In the opening contest of the main card, Kim Min-Woo defeated Song Chang-Hyun via Rear-Naked Choke at the 1:35 mark of the second stanza.

In the Young Guns 12 prelims, there were four match-ups that showcased up and coming fighters from the ROAD FC Amateur Leagues, many of whom were getting their first taste of action on a professional card.

Moon Ki-Bum put in an impressive performance by finishing Kim Hyung-Ryul off with punches on the ground.

Jung Je-Il, meanwhile, displayed some great striking combinations against Oh Jae-Sung, who in turn, showcased his heart by staying on his feet and fighting till the final bell. Jung was awarded the final decision.

Kwak Jong-Hyun scored takedowns and control en route to his lopsided Unanimous Decision victory over Kim Woo-Jae, while Kim Seok-Yong had a successful pro debut with a first round submission triumph win over Kim Jin-Min.
