Ronda Rousey vs. Liz Carmouche set to headline UFC 157 in Anaheim

The wait is over; Ronda Rousey has an opponent for her debut inside the UFC Octagon.

At Thurday’s UFC on FOX 5 pre-fight press conferece, UFC President Dana White announced that Rousey would take on Liz Carmouche in the main event at UFC 157.

“In the UFC, Feb 23 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. (Ronda Rousey) will be fighting Liz Carmouche, and she is the main event. I think the women are here to stay and I want to prove it.”

Rousey was announced as the first woman in the UFC just a few weeks ago. It initially sounded as if there were plenty of women wanting to face Rousey, however White stated otherwise.

“That’s who wanted to fight her. Believe me, people aren’t kicking the door down at Zuffa wanting to fight her.”

Rousey (6-0) is undefeated in her MMA career, with six impressive wins, all by first round arm-bar.

Carmouche (7-2) has won two in a row against Ashleigh Curry and Kaitlin Young under the Invicta FC banner.

UFC 157 is slated to take place February 23 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Also announced for this fight card is a bantamweight bout between Urijah Faber and Ivan Menjivar.
