Saeid Mirzaei steps in to face Chris Anderson at BFL 46

It was announced this past week that BFL 46 main event fighter Dejan Kajic had pulled out of  his title fight against champion Chris Anderson due to an injury.

A number of fighters stepped up to the plate for main event status, however the one that has been chosen on just two weeks notice is someone who was supposed to take on Anderson in 2015 — Saeid Mirzaei.

Mirzaei (0-0 Pro, 14-3 Amateur) has won seven in a row, including three in Las Vegas this past year to earn himself status of IMMAF 2015 World Champion. The last time “Prince of Persia” stepped inside the Battlefield Fight League cage was in July when he TKO’d Liam Stevenson to earn him the vacant BFL amateur welterweight title. The 24-year-old is currently ranked at #1 amongst all amateurs in Canada at both 170-pounds, as well as 205-pounds.

Anderson (4-0) surprises fans each and every time he enters the BFL cage, however he doesn’t shock himself. In his pro debut, “Bukwas” defeated Stu Deleurme by brutal TKO and followed that up with a decision victory over David Perron in his sophomore appearance. Those two fights earned the Comox Valley native a title shot against Curtis Harriott. In March of this year, Anderson earned a TKO victory over Harriott to capture the title and then beat him again in a rematch to keep the gold around his waist.

Anderson’s original opponent, Dejan Kajic is expected to be out of action for at least three months.

BFL 46 goes down on October 29 from the Hard Rock Casino in Coquitlam, British Columbia. Also on the card is a bantamweight title fight between champion Jamie Siraj and Cole Smith. If you are interested in tickets for BFL 46 you can hit up Ticketmaster for the best seats in town.
