The UFC’s return to Indianapolis just got a little smaller with the news that Victoria, BC’s Sarah Kaufman will no longer be doing battle on the card. The former Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion confirmed the news in a tweet this morning.

Well, it’s official: no replacement opponent would take the fight so I’m off #UFN27. I’m devastated about pushing my @ufc debut back.

The Zuffa owned promotion was unable to find an opponent willing to take on the powerful striker on short notice after Sara McMann pulled out of the bout due to undisclosed issues.
The Zuma product (16-2) is still looking to make her official UFC debut after having officially been brought over as part of the Strikeforce merger. This makes the former champion the only fighter absorbed from that promotion that has yet to debut. Since her former home folded, Kaufman has fought once for Invicta, winning a split decision war over Leslie Smith.
The UFC has yet to announce a new bout for Kaufman, nor which fight will be moved up to UFC Fight Night 27’s main card.
