Shara Magomedov Triumphs in UFC Debut

Shara ‘Bullet’ Magomedov made his highly anticipated UFC debut at UFC 294 against Brazilian, Bruno Silva. The Dagestani kickboxer held an undefeated 11-0 record prior to the bout and improved on that record in Abu Dhabi.

Constantly punishing his opponent with kicks from a variety of different angles, Magomedov impressed fans who had gotten into the stadium early. Every shot was precise, thrown with power and ill intention. His hands were impressive too, catching Silva as he entered on multiple occasions. The legs and body of the Brazilian were brutalised from early on in the fight, however, his heart got him through.

With that being said, Silva was the far better boxer in the first round, catching Bullet in the close range at the beginning of the round, showing that he’s not flawless just yet.

The second round began with Magomedov continuing to land on the inside and outside of the legs of Silva, however, Blindado used his experience, took his opponent down and seemingly dominated. Despite being in top position, Silva received brutal ground and pound at the hands (and elbows) of Shara which we know is something that the judges regard very highly.

The third round saw Silva largely control the round, however, again, Magomedov punished his opponent which arguably won him the round. He won the fight 30-27 on all scorecards.

What’s Next?

Magomedov needs another highly regarded opponent next. He’s a big name, undefeated and could make a quick run at the title.

Phil Hawes, Edmen Shahbazyan or an all Russian showdown against Roman Kpoylov could all be viable opponents. A win next time out could see Bullet make a quick and vicious run at the title in what is a packed and very exciting middleweight division.
