Stamp Fairtex Returns at ONE: Unbreakable III

ONE: Unbreakable III, a previously recorded event, will air on Friday, February 5, with the return of Stamp Fairtex in the ONE Championship main event.

Stamp Fairtex Returns on Friday, February 5

The undefeated atomweight will headline a six-bout card against Ukrainian Alyona Rassohyna, who will be making her promotional debut.

As the ONE Atomweight World Grand Prix looms in 2021, both women will want to make an impression in the main event to punch their ticket to the event. And for Stamp Fairtex, it will be an important bout to continue her bid at history as she eyes a third World Championship in a third sport after previously capturing the Muay Thai and kickboxing titles.

#2-ranked atomweight contender Meng Bo is coming off a recent showcase to confirm her standing within the division. Now it’s time for Stamp, ranked #5, to do the same.

As a decorated striker, it is clear where the Thai star holds the advantage. However, she has been working tirelessly to evolve her game and become a well-rounded martial artist no matter where the action takes place.

She has gone the distance only once in her young mixed martial arts career, but the experiences have increased her confidence inside the ONE Circle.

Stamp Fairtex has finished her opponents inside the first five minutes in her last two mixed martial arts contests. And in those bouts, she has been able to control where the bout takes place and display her positional control on the mat.

Will Stamp Fairtex keep the fight on the feet?

While Stamp has not been afraid to take her previous bouts to the mat, the matchup against Rassohyna may force her into keeping this one standing.

The Ukrainian atomweight has double-digit submissions to her credit and an 83% career finishing rate. Back-to-back armbar finishes helped to land her a spot on the roster and a main event match.

The Yarost Gym representative is a proven commodity on the canvas. Playing in her world could net the Thai her first career loss.

The stylistic matchup is nothing new to the sport, but it still is a marker for how well an athlete is transitioning. These matchups test athletes where they are trying to improve in their games, and it will force them to improve more rapidly in the defensive aspects of their arsenal.

The 30-year-old has never been stopped by strikes, but she has also never faced a striker with the credentials of the Fairtex Gym standout. She must have excellent defense to avoid being stuck at the end of the Thai’s strikes.

Who can impose their game on their opponent? That’s the $64,000 question.

And when the answer comes in, and the referee raises the victor’s hand, a ticket to the ONE Atomweight World Grand Prix may not be too far behind.

You can watch Stamp Fairtex vs. Alyona Rassohyna on Friday, as ONE: Unbreakable III will air on B/R Live at 7:30 a.m. EST/4:30 a.m. PST for free.
