Submission Underground 24 Results

Submission Underground (SUG) is back tonight for all the Jiu Jitsu fans out there who love and appreciate those slick submissions. MMA Sucka has fight fans covered with Submission Underground 24 results.

Submission Underground 24 is Sunday, June 27th, live only on UFC Fight Pass at 6pm ET/3pm PT.

Submission Underground returns to Portland, Oregon with an eight-man absolute tournament featuring some of the top submission-only grapplers and jiu-jitsu players in the world. The winner of the whole tournament will receive a handsome cheque of $10,000 and a title shot at the champion Mason Fowler on July 18th. 2nd place will receive $5000 whilst 3rd place will receive $2500.

The co-main event sees Amanda Loewen, the champion return in search of her seventh SUG victory as she takes on challenger, Raquel Canuto. Canuto is coming off a guillotine victory over Gillian Robertson in just 30 seconds in her last SUG outing.

Here are the fighters competing in this stacked tournament below:

Kyle Boehm: Boehm is a 10th Planet black belt and is physically the biggest competitor tonight however don’t let that fool you as he is more than just a physical specimen. He has defeated the likes of Gabriel Almeida, Tex Johnson, and Lucas Barbosa which only goes to show how much of a dangerous submission specialist he is.

Renato Tagliari: Tagliari will be looking to make a name for himself in this contest against Boehm. He is a Caio Terra black belt and has competed in various competitions from IBJJF to EBI and faces some of the highest level of grapplers in the past.

Tanner Weisgram: Weisgram faced Tagliari back in 2019 losing out in a close match, however, he has competed in IBJJF in gi many times and will be looking to impress tonight.

Ronny Markes: MMA veteran Markes has 19 MMA wins, five of them coming by submission and will be looking to bounce back with a win in SUG after losing his promotional debut to Vinny Magalhaes via heel hook submission. He is a black belt under Andre Pederneiras.

Roberto Jimenez: Although he lost to Fowler last year in 2020 SUG absolute tournament and is coming off a loss to Pedro Marinho at Third Coast Grappling, Jimenez is the one to watch for grappling fans as his all-out attack grappling game fits well to SUG ruleset. His cardio and all round submission game will definitely be an advantage .

Adam Smith: Physically the smallest, however size matters not. Smith is a MMA veteran with 20 fights and is yet to lose in SUG earning wins over the likes of Alex Larmey and Benji Silva.

Andrew Sidelinger: 3X Sug veteran and American Top Team black belt, Andrew Sidelinger steps in on just 24hrs notice after UFC vet, Jim Alers withdrew.

Pedro Marinho: Arguably the most decorated jiu-jitsu competitor tonight as an IBBJF Worlds and Pans champion brown belt. Marinho loves guillotine submission and holds wins over Jimenez, Gabriel Almeida, Oliver Taza, and William Tackett.
