You would think that having two of Mixed Martial Art's most respected fighters retire in one night is kind of a big deal. Both Pride FC Grand Prix Champion Mirko "Crocop" Filipović and former lightweight and welterweight champion BJ Penn decided to announce their retirement this past weekend after both had been defeated at UFC 137. On this night however, the magnitude of their decisions had been overshadowed by the excitement caused by newly crowned number one welter weight contender, Nick Diaz. Time to break down what's coming up next for the fighters of UFC 137.

The UFC 137 fighters will take to the scale at the Mandalay Bay Event Center today in anticipation of Saturday's stacked event. Headlining the card will be a lightweight showdown between "The Prodigy" BJ Penn and Nick Diaz. The fight card will be co-headlined by Matt Mitrione vs. Cheick Kongo.

Ed Garcia of Fatlip Radio had the opportunity earlier this week to chat with both Gray Maynard and Matt Mitrione. Maynard is fighting tonight in a trilogy match for the UFC Lightweight Title against Frankie Edgar. While Mitrione is expected to take on a very dangerous striker in Chieck Kongo at UFC 137 at the end of the month.
