This week we were treated to two fights on episode 6 of The Ultimate Fighter Season 14. The show again proved to be better than the last week, as the two coaches again feuded with each other, fighters were bitter with each other and the fights were killer. Our TUF Video Blogger Marcus Brimage does not only seem like he dissects the episode for us here at MMASucka, but he seems to be the guy on the show that does that as well.
The show picks up right where we left off at the aftermath of the Akira Corassani defeat of Dustin Neace. Neace is still bitter about the fight not being stopped in the first round as he secured a deep heel hook submission, and caused Akira to tap. Regardless if Akira's tap was seen or not seen by the referee, Neace should have held the submission until the referee had broken up the fight. Instead, it looked like Neace loosened the hold right after he felt Akira tap, giving Akira an opportunity to escape and continue the fight. Jason Mayhem Miller chalks up the fight as a great learning experience for Neace and the rest of his team to not stop fighting until the referee stops you from fighting.
MMASucka's resident TUF 14 video blogger, Marcus Brimage discusses the ongoing mishaps that happen during this season. This was probably the most exciting episode of the season with Diego telling people he is going to cut their heads off to the cowboy hat incident at the house. Marcus discusses all of that, along with the fight between Akira Corassani and Dustin Neace which gave Team Bisping their first victory.
This is the tipping point episode in the show where all the little pranks, cutting remarks, fun and games add up to all hell breaking loose between fighters and coaches.
This week was a double dose of fights and in this weeks video blog Marcus Brimage chats about both of them and the fact that Team Bisping is now 0-4 in the competition. He also chats about the fact that Bisping didn't show up to the weigh-ins and also his coaching style.
Here we go with a two fight episode! That means less pranks, talk, and house shinanigans, and more fights!
We start off with a classic grappler versus striker match with Dennis Bermudez of team Mayhem versus Stephan Bass of team Bisping. Bermudez's laid out his game plan perfectly in his pre-fight comments. He said he will "Put a blanket on him and try to suffocate him," and that is exactly what happened.
This episode starts off with our video blogger Marcus Brimage causing a ruckus at the gym with Diego Brandao. The two were battling back and forth with each other, when Coach Bisping had to step in
It didn't really take much time for this season to have its first share of conflicts between competitors. Team Bisping's Diego Brandao and Marcus Brimage take a 60% power sparring session to 100% as each of them claim to only be giving back what they are being hit with. The escalation happens pretty easily as it would only take one punch thrown too hard to set it off especially with guys who are ultimately competing with each other even though they are on the same team. I'm curious what Brimage will have to say about this encounter on his next video blog at MMAsucka.com.
The fights to get in the house are done, and now we are left with the top 16 fighters to be broken up into teams. Michael Bisping wins the coin toss and ops to pick the first fighter, leaving Mayhem with the first fight pick.
