UFC photographer Josh Hedges was on scene in Sydney, Australia for the UFC on FX 2: Alves vs. Kampmann open workouts. The media open workout took place at the Star Casino.
The men who were sweating it up for the camera were obviously Martin Kampmann and Thiago Alves who will go toe to toe in the main event at the Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australia this Saturday (Mar.3).

The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Wednesday announced it will return to Australia with UFC Sydney: Alves vs Kampmann to be held at Sydney’s Allphones Arena on Saturday, March 3, 2012. Following two sell-out shows in this country, this highly anticipated event pits two of the UFC’s most explosive welterweights against each other and also sees the debut of the flyweight division with a two-bout tournament to decide the top contenders at 125-pounds (56.7kg).
It looks like Martin Kampmann (18-5) will be squaring off against Thiago Alves (19-8) on for UFC on FX 2 card which is tentatively slated for March 3. The UFC has confirmed this bout but the location and venue are still in the works [...]
I was listening to MMAJunkie Radio this morning and the fellas were chatting with Mike Dolce about a possible fight between Martin Kampmann and Thiago Alves. It wasn't even an hour later that Damon Martin of MMAWeekly.com broke the news that the two were lined up for an un-named card on March 3, 2012.
Earlier this week Jeremy Brand of MMASucka had the opportunity to chat with Mike Dolce regarding all things "The Dolce Diet". Mike talks candidly about Thiago Alves and his last fight. As well as the fact that he would love to get back into the cage in 2012 for a few fights.

As cliche as it may be, styles make fights. We should all know this by now, especially the media. It's not how big a draw the fighters are in the main event, or how many top 10 fighters are on the card. In the weeks leading up to the fight it was amazing to see how many articles were about how Munoz and Leben were not worthy of main event status. The position would be understandable if the UFC was trying to market the card as a pay-per-view, but it was free! Why gripe about free fights?
Thiago Alves has struggled with his weight in the past and once again at UFC 138. Him and his coach Mike Dolce insisted that the weight cut this time around was not a problem for him and that the scale itself was botched. Even with the weight issue
