Daniel Cormier picked up a unanimous decision victory over former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir in his debut fight.
Although it wasn't pretty, Cormier did what he needed to do to earn the judges nod.
Josh Thomson made a successful return to the octagon, as he defeated Nate Diaz.
Thomson used a fantastic gameplan in the first round, by utilizing leg-kicks to keep the longer Diaz at bay.
Matt Brown was able to pick up his fifth straight win in a row, as he defeated Jordan Mein at UFC on FOX 7.
In the first bout on the FOX portion of the fight card, Brown used his veteran experience to put the pressure on the young fighter, Mein.
The lightweight title was on the line in the main event as Benson Henderson took on Strikeforce Champion Gilbert Melendez.
Melendez was very calm in the first stanza of the championship fight. He landed nice leg-kicks and punches on the champion. Henderson however seemed fairly tentative to start the fight.
The former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir and Strikeforce Grand Prix Champion Daniel Cormier battle in the co-main event.
Mir began the round by throwing four to five head-kicks that missed within the first minute of the fight. For the better part of the round Cormier had Mir pushed up against the fence and he landed nasty punches and knees which slowed Mir down.
In what could be Nate Diaz's last lightweight battle, he entered the octagon against Josh "The Punk" Thomson.
The taunting from Diaz began right when the referee told the two men to fight. Thomson switched from orthodox to southpaw with almost every step he took in the first few minutes of the round.
