The UFC brought word of a spectacular lightweight showdown for UFC 144 a short time ago. Japan’s own Takanori Gomi will square off against submission specialist George Sotiropoulos.

Both fighters are coming off of losses, Gomi who has been submitted in both of his last two fights against Clay Guida and Nate Diaz. Sotiropoulos has also lost two in a row, Siver in a decision loss and dos Anjos via KO this past July.

UFC 144 will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between champion Frankie Edgar and challenger Ben Henderson. In addition, Jake Shields returns to action against Yoshihiro Akiyama and a rumoured fight between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson against Ryan Bader.
