Tawanchai Predicts ‘Barnburner’ With Superbon At ONE 170

Tawanchai PK Saenchai finds his name on the marquee for ONE 170 in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday, January 24. The name opposite him is a familiar foe, Superbon. The two ONE Championship warriors throw down for the second time on the global stage, and the reigning ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion expects Round 6 to be just as epic as the previous five.

“The second fight against Superbon should be just as fun as the first one because Superbon should be more familiar with Muay Thai. I’m ready,” Tawanchai mentioned to ONE.

Looking Back at Chapter One of Tawanchai vs. Superbon

In their first meeting, Tawanchai edged out Superbon by a majority decision. The collision of the two striking kings remains a hotly debated topic, but he believes he knows all of his opponent’s secrets heading into the rematch. If true, the 25-year-old could be set for a special night under the bright nights of Impact Arena.

“Superbon’s strengths are his sharp eye, razor attacks, and good timing. But now, I can read him like a book. I know every trick he’s going to bring to me, but I won’t say them now,” the featherweight titleholder said.

Even with the confidence riding high, Tawanchai is still trepidatious of Superbon’s skillset. The Thai star recognizes his challenger’s talents are just as good as what he brings into the ring with him. Without a prediction on how he may win, Tawanchai simply states that this will be a phenomenal title tilt to kick off 2025.

Tawanchai Noncommittal on Picking a Winner of Rematch

“I can’t predict this fight because this is a matchup between fighters of the same level whose skills are on par. But, I still don’t want to lose. I absolutely can’t lose. What I want to prove in this fight is that I want to make everyone who comes to watch it is entertained. It’ll be absolutely incredible. This fight’s going to be a barnburner,” the Thai star remarked.

In 2025, he is eyeing history. He wants to defend the gold at ONE 170, but then turn his attention to Superbon one more time. If he can pick up the win, he wants to target his compatriot’s ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Championship.

Tawanchai Setting Lofty Goals in 2025

“My goal in 2025 is to keep my Muay Thai belt and become the kickboxing king,” Tawanchai said.

Although he may have eyes on kickboxing’s highest prize, Tawanchai is not pushing his way to the front of the pack. He explained that he would be fine with proving his mettle against any of the featherweight elite. However, knocking off the reigning champion on January 24 in Muay Thai will go a long way to establishing himself as a credible threat that may be worthy of jumping the line.

“If I win this fight against Superbon, I want to cross over to kickboxing and fight anyone in the rankings. If I have to fight for the World Title against Superbon, I’m happy to do so because I want to get a kickboxing belt to prove myself,” Tawanchai stated.

ONE 170 airs live on Friday, January 24. The action emanates from Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand. Stay tuned for more news at MMASucka.com.
