The Future of Jon Jones in UFC and MMA

The least active UFC champion, Jon Jones is certainly nearing the end of his MMA career. There’s no denying that he’s one of the greatest mixed martial artists to ever grace the octagon, however, in recent times, his inactivity and presumed reluctance to fight certain individuals is hindering his legacy.

We discuss the future of Bones and what could be next for the UFC’s youngest-ever champion.

What’s next for Jon Jones?

The future of Jon Jones is fairly clear for all to see. UFC president, Dana White appears to be obsessed with re-booking the heavyweight title fight between Jones and former champion, Stipe Miocic. The former champion is, on paper, the greatest UFC heavyweight of all time. Miocic made more defences of the title (three) than any other heavyweight champion.

The two were set to meet at UFC 295, however, Jones suffered a pectoral muscle injury, forcing him pout of the bout.

The assumption is that Jones will be re-booked against Miocic, again in New York City (like UFC 295) at UFC 309. Following the bout, Jones has two options. Either retire or face off against the interim champion, Tom Aspinall. Only time will tell whether offshore sports betting odds are released for the potential of this fight happening. However, you can find a range of the latest odds for UFC as well as a quick and easy sign-up at these online bookmakers right now if you can’t wait.

Jones vs Aspinall?

The fight that everyone wants to see if Jon Jones defending his undisputed heavyweight title against the interim champion, Tom Aspinall. The interest in the potential Stipe Miocic fight against Jones is extremely minimal, however, a potential Jones vs Aspinall fight has fans salivating.

Jones is extremely well-rounded, however, so is Aspinall. The British fighter is the new breed of heavyweight. He’s as quick as a middleweight but hits as hard as any heavyweight on the roster. He’s lost to just one man in the UFC but has already avenged that loss in devastating fashion.

Jones seems disinterested in a fight with Aspinall, however, arguably because he knows that it would mark the toughest test of his career. Is Jones scared of Aspinall? Only time will tell.
