The Walkout Consultant: UFC 235 Walkout Songs

UFC 230 Walkout Songs

UFC 230 is a “go” for this Saturday night! The Champ Champ, Daniel Cormier will return to the cage at heavyweight to defend his UFC title against “The Black Beast” Derrick Lewis. And he’ll do it live at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY. As with many UFC events though, there are a lot of fighters who will need help selecting more memorable, on-brand entrances. As MMASucka.com’s resident musicologist, I can offer suggestions that will help fighters further stand out from the pack with their UFC 230 walkout songs. I’m even posting them here for you, the discerning fans’, consideration. So, without further ado, here… We… Go!

Macy Chiasson

What she last walked out to: “151 Rum” – JID

What he should walk out to next: Best Beeleevah” – Big Freedia

There are some places that a fighter can hail from that should always be connected to them in some way. With Macy Chiasson fighting out of New Orleans, Louisiana, it’s a no-brainer that her walkout should provide some kind of NOLA identifier to stress that connection. Walking out to the tepid trap of JID doesn’t really do that. Something that would, however, would be the high energy sounds of Big Freedia, whose calypso-sampling “Best Beeleevah” would make for a better walkout. You can hear it below.

Hannah Cifers

What he last walked out to: “He Knows My Name” – Francesca Battistelli

What he should walk out to next: “Psalm 9” – Trouble

I have made it clear that fighters walking out to C-grade worship music should be verboten. And that’s why Hannah “Shockwave” Cifers has made this week’s walkout consultant. There are plenty of songs that are Christian, awesome, and don’t put crowds to sleep. One classic example of that is Trouble’s “Psalm 9,” a Sabbathian recounting of the biblical passage. You can hear it below.
