Thiago Alves has struggled with his weight in the past and once again at UFC 138. Him and his coach Mike Dolce insisted that the weight cut this time around was not a problem for him and that the scale itself was botched. Even with the weight issue, Alves came into UFC 138 and absolutely dominated UFC newcomer Papy Abedi, finishing with a rear naked choke in the first round.
