Former world heavyweight boxing champion and current lineal heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury has rumoured a crossover to MMA. The Englishman is one of the biggest names in boxing today and at an undefeated 29-0-1, a crossover to MMA has been hinted at more than once. Fury has been training with former UFC title challenger Darren Till. Both men are under the MTK Global management banner.

Following a prolonged period away from boxing due to personal reasons, Fury returned to face WBC heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder. Although this ended in a draw, the wide consensus was that Fury was robbed of the victory. In action twice since then inside the boxing ring, Fury has notched another two victories. During his most recent bout, Fury suffered a terrible cut and has this taken a step away from boxing.

Fury had a stint in the WWE, competing at Crown Jewel. Also competing at this event were former UFC heavyweight champions Brock Lesnar and Cain Valasquez.

Fury announced to fans on his Instagram that he would be training in Liverpool at Team Kaobon alongside fellow Brit, Darren Till. Although he has no previous MMA training, Fury’s impressive work ethic means that he could potentially pick up techniques fast. Till took to Instagram on Saturday afternoon to prove that Fury was a man of his word and did indeed train alongside ‘The Gorilla’.

Who could we see Fury face?

Although it is unlikely to see Fury inside the Octagon any time soon, it is exciting to consider the prospect. As long as previous opponent Wilder gets through his November bout with challenger Luiz Ortiz, Wilder and Fury will likely meet in a rematch.

However, if Fury was to fight inside the Octagon, he already has big plans. Speaking to IFL TV, Fury stated that he would fight both Stipe Miocic and rather more excitingly, Francis Ngannou. Ngannou responded on Twitter, welcoming the challenge.

Whether we will ever see Tyson Fury in the Octagon is currently unknown, but the prospect of it potentially happening is certainly exciting.
