UFC 170 Betting Preview and Odds

This time, it’s “Ladies last” as Ronda Rousey tries to defend her women’s bantamweight title against Sara McMann in the main event of UFC 170. The event, which will be held at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 22, also features a crop of entertaining undercard fights.

UFC 170 Betting Preview

Without much surprise, Rousey will enter the fight as the odds on favorite. A look at several UFC betting odds would turn in a price of -440 for the fighter they call “Rowdy”, while McMann, the challenger, is a +340 underdog.

An accomplished judoka, Rousey’s best weapon is undeniably her armbar submission technique. In her latest fight, Rousey caught Miesha Tate at UFC 168 with another of her signature armbar to earn the first defense of her title. On the other hand, McMann is a standout wrestler, even earning a silver medal in the 2004 Athens Games. She is currently on a five-fight-winning streak, although her last fight occurred back in April of last year, making the clash with Rousey her first in 10 months.

In the supporting bout, Patrick Cummins will finally get his request answered when he sees Daniel Cormier across the octagon for a light heavyweight scrap. Cummins wasn’t in the original slate but Rashad Evans was injured in training, giving the California-based fighter a shot against Cormier. To win against Cormier, Cummins might need to pull of something short of a miracle, as he is a huge -1,100 underdog, while Cormier comes in with a +700 label.

Another interesting fight is the welterweight showdown of Rory MacDonald and Demian Maia – two fighters who are aiming for a big win after seeing their respective winning streak end. MacDonald was stunned by Robbie Lawler at UFC 167, in a fight he was supposed to win. For Maia, the clash with MacDonald offers him a ticket back to being relevant in the division after losing to Jake Shields gave at UFC Fight Night 29.
