UFC 179 Kountermove Preview

It has been three weeks since the last UFC fight card, so fans are itching for UFC 179 this coming Saturday.

In the main event, Jose Aldo returns to the Octagon to defend his featherweight championship in a rematch against Team Alpha Male, Chad Mendes. Light Heavyweights Glover Teixeira and Phil Davis will square off in the evening’s co-main event.

UFC 179 Kountermove Preview

The image below is all of the prices of fighters in the UFC 179 Kountermove games. If you are interested in playing and unsure of whom to pick for your five, we will give you a bit of our insight.

If you have never played Kountermove before, it’s very simple — you have $25,000 to spend. To make the most of your money, you will more than likely not be able to take more than one favorite. With a team of five, you will look to stay at about a $5,000 average

Best Bets

Yan Cabral ($5300) – Almost every oddsmaker out there has Cabral at a -600 favorite against Naoyuki Kotani. The 31-year-old is 1-1 inside the Octagon and boasts an impressive 11-1 record. The grappling ace has only gone to the judges scorecards in one of his eleven victories, with ten of those coming via submission.

Gilbert Burns ($5000) – The Brazilian is undefeated in his mixed martial arts career at 8-0. His opponent, Christos Giagos, is a heavy handed striker, however he is making his promotional debut which could put the pressure on. Combine that with the fact that he is making his debut in front of Burns’ home country and it could spell trouble for the American.

Underdog Picks

Darren Elkins ($4500) – Elkins comes into UFC Fight Night 58 as a -175 favorite in the sports books, but on Kountermove he costs $600 less than his opponent Lucas Martins. Does this mean anything? Not really, but it could be the one underdog pick you make to save yourself some coin.

Scott Jorgensen ($4700) – The former bantamweight title contender had the longest losing streak of his career, at three fights, before defeating Danny Martinez in June. Since making his flyweight debut, Jorgensen has gone 1-2 and will be looking to continue on his winning ways. Wilson Reis could be a tough challenge, but the veteran Jorgensen, will likely turn this into a brawl that could edge his way.
