The UFC heads to Mexico for the first time ever this weekend for UFC 180.
The main event was expected to feature the much anticipated return of UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez, however he was forced out of the bout with an injury. Stepping in for him is Mark Hunt, who will take on Fabricio Werdum for the Interim Heavyweight strap.
UFC 180 Kountermove Preview
Welterweight’s Kelvin Gastelum and Jake Ellenberger will square off in the evening’s co-main event.
The image below is all of the prices of fighters in the UFC 180 Kountermove games. If you are interested in playing and unsure of whom to pick for your five, we will give you a bit of our insight.
If you have never played Kountermove before, it’s very simple — you have $25,000 to spend. To make the most of your money, you will more than likely not be able to take more than one favorite. With a team of five, you will look to stay at about a $5,000 average
Best Bets
Fabricio Werdum ($5800) – I am a giant Mark Hunt fan, but I think he is in for a rough night against Fabricio Werdum. We saw what Werdum was able to do against a beast like Fedor Emelianenko and most recently the four fight winning streak inside the UFC Octagon. Hunt has a punchers chance here, but if Werdum is able to get him to the mat, there will be some serious trouble for the Aussie.
I feel that Werdum is the only big bet for this card. There are some other favorites that I’m on the fence about, like Kelvin Gastelum over Jake Ellenberger is a likely bet, but if Ellenberger comes out there like the “Juggernaut” of old, then Gastelum could be in trouble.
Underdog Picks
Leonardo Morales ($4600) – While I don’t know the guy very well, Morales proved his worth on TUF Latin America. He had a nasty knockout victory in the first round and took home a unanimous decision in the semi-finals. His opponent is a submission ace, but Morales also holds two submission victories of his own. This should be a fun match and while both men are not very well known, my money is on Morales.
My picks
With so many Mexican fighters on this card it was tough to judge. Taking to the Sherdog Fight Finder helped me out a little bit, but it was a guessing game for the most part.
