Michael Johnson defeats Joe Lauzon via unanimous decision

The first fight of the main card wasn’t the showcase that people were expecting when “J-Lau” and “The Menace” were paired together. This lightweight bout did, however, produce the fireworks that people wanted.

Michael Johnson defeats Joe Lauzon via unanimous decision

Round 1 was pretty much all Johnson, as he showed off his newly-improved striking. “The Menace” dropped the New England native twice, once just over half-way into the round and again near the end. He was also smart enough to back off the moment Lauzon reached for a limb to try and attempt a sub. 10-9 for Johnson.

Round 2 was another round handily taken by Michael Johnson, as he stuffed a pair of Lauzon’s takedown attempts early and continued to outstrike the grappling wizard on the feet. “The Menace” finished the round strong with a takedown against the cage, and managed to even land some ground’n’pound. 10-9 for Johnson again, 20-18 after two.

Round 3 went a lot like Round 2, except Johnson caught a second win. He hit great combinations, stuffed all of Lauzon’s takedowns attempts, busted open his opponent, and finished the round strong with a takedown again. Not a lot to say except an impressive showing from Michael Johnson! 10-9 round, making it 30-27 for Johnson on my cards.
