UFC on FUEL TV 7: Barao vs. McDonald bottom line

The UFC will take a trip across the pond to jolly ‘ol England for this weekends UFC on FUEL TV 7 event. The main event will be for the interim UFC Bantamweight Championship as the defending Renan Barao takes on Michael McDonald.

Although the rest of the card has received considerably less attention, it’s not to be overlooked. The co-main event is a featherweight battle between Dustin Poirier and Cub Swanson. This fight could have featherweight title implications at stake.

The main card which is on FUEL TV features six bouts. Rounding out the FUEL TV portion of the card is Cyrille Diabate vs. Jimi Manuwa, Gunnar Nelson vs. Jorge Santiago, Canadian Ryan Jimmo vs. James Te Huna, and Che Mills vs. Matthew Riddle.

Renan Barao vs. Michael McDonald 

– Barao has a takedown percentage of 78%, however McDonald’s defense is an astounding 67%

– McDonald has a submission average of 1.62 for every 15 minute fight.

Dustin Poirier vs. Cub Swanson

– Both Poirier and Swanson have impressive strikes landed per minute, with Poirier landing 4.19 and Swanson landing 3.34

– Poirier averages nearly 2 submissions for every 15 minutes of fighting with 1.97.

Cyrille Diabate vs. Jimi Manuwa

– Manuwa holds advantages in strikes landed and takedown defense.

– Diabate has a near 6″ reach advantage, with 81″ compared to Manuwa’s 75.5

Gunnar Nelson vs. Jorge Santiago

– Nelson’s striking accuracy is an impressive 90% and his take down percentage is perfect at 100%

– Both fighters are known for finishing. Nelson averages 3:34 fight time in his short career, while Santiago averages 7:52

Ryan Jimmo vs. James Te Huna

– In Jimmo’s 7-second UFC debut, his strikes landed per minute were 17.14

– Te Huna has great striking and his takedown average is 3.77 over a 15 minute fight

Che Mills vs. Matthew Riddle

– Mills’ take down accuracy is 100%

– Riddle has great take down defense at 89%
