UFC on FX 2 broadcasted live through Australia on Fox Sports & Fuel TV

Sydney, Australia – FOX SPORTS has secured EXCLUSIVE rights to broadcast UFC® Sydney Alves vs Kampmann, the company announced today.

FOX SPORTS will broadcast The Ultimate Fighting Championship® for the first time in Australia in a ground-breaking agreement which will also see the event screened LIVE on Fuel TV.

Following two sell-out shows in Sydney, this highly anticipated event pits two of the UFC’s most explosive welterweights against each other and also sees the debut of the flyweight division with a two-bout tournament to decide the top contenders at 125-pounds (56.7kg).  If either flyweight bout should end in a draw after three rounds, a fourth “sudden victory” round will be fought, with the winner going on to fight for the belt at a future UFC event.

FOX SPORTS will provide a LIVE broadcast of the main card from Sydney’s Allphones Arena, featuring Brazilian Thiago “Pitbull” Alves (24-7-0) against Denmark’s Martin “The Hitman” Kampmann (18-5-0) from 1.00pm AEDT on FOX SPORTS 3HD and FOX SPORTS 3.

Fuel TV, Australia’s only 24-hour action sports channel and broadcaster of The Ultimate Fighter® , will screen all preliminary bouts LIVE,commencing at 9.30am AEDT, and will continue its LIVE coverage throughout the entire event.

Head of FOX SPORTS Channels, Gary Burns, said: “The UFC is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and FOX SPORTS is delighted to offer subscribers this opportunity to watch the UFC Sydney event live on FOX SPORTS and FUEL TV.”

“The previous two UFC events in Australia have been sold out in minutes, so you can guarantee that this is going to be one of the most popular events of the year. UFC fans are going to love having the option of watching all prelims live on Fuel TV and then staying on Fuel TV or flicking over to FOX SPORTS for live coverage of the main card,” he said.

Fuel TV Channel Manager, Adam Howarth, said: “This is a watershed moment for Fuel TV and its legion of loyal UFC fans. We are incredibly pumped to deliver the entire Sydney event live. We’ve put a lot of UFC content to air in recent years and this is really the pinnacle for us in terms of delivering the event that matters the most to Australian fans.”

UFC’s Managing Director of International Development, Marshall Zelaznik, said: “We are delighted to work with our partners at Fox and Fuel TV to bring this card to our Australian fans free of charge.

“We’re excited to debut the UFC’s flyweight division here in Sydney.  These are the best fighters in the world at 125-pounds and they’ll be fighting for their chance at history, for a shot at the first UFC flyweight belt. It’s going to be a great show.”
