UFC Lightweight Reza Madadi arrested in Sweden after alleged burglary, car chase

Originally reported in the Swedish tabloid Expressen, and translated by a member of Bloody Elbow’s fan community, UFC lightweight Reza Madadi was arrested on May 24, 2013 in Stockholm, Sweden on charges of Grand Theft. after allegedly breaking into a high-end boutique, stealing aproximately 1,000,000 SEK (about $155,099 CAD) worth of merchandise, and then leading local police on a high speed car chase.

Madadi has pleaded not guilty through his public defender, and is facing 6 years in prison if convicted.

Reza Madadi was originally scheduled to face TUF 15 winner Michael Chiesa at UFC on Fox 8 on July 21st in Seattle, WA, but had to be scratched from the card due to unrelated visa issues.
