Competing in front of his native Mexico for the first time since February 2024, Brandon Moreno seeks to vault himself back into title contention by handing one-time title challenger Steve Erceg his third loss in a row in UFC Mexico. Also, feared first round stoppage savant Manuel Torres will stand with one of the UFC lightweight division’s hardest unranked hitters in company veteran Drew Dober.
UFC Mexico Main Event
Coming off of two razor-thin split decision defeats to Alexandre Pantoja and Brandon Royval, Moreno recently jumped back into the winners circle with a memorable unanimous decision win over the then 17-1 Amir Albazi. Now on the cusp of receiving another title shot, the former-two time 125-lb champion can position himself firmly at the head of the line with a convincing victory at UFC Mexico
Giving Pantoja the hardest fight of his championship run to date, Erceg locked horns with perennial flyweight contender Kai Kara-France at UFC 305 to possibly capture another opportunity at “The Cannibal.”
This didn’t turn out to be the case, however, as the Aussie was quickly starched in the first round by the hard-hitting Ultimate Fighter alum. With a triumph against an all-time great of the division like Moreno tonight in UFC Mexico, “AstroBoy” could also punch his ticket to a rematch with Pantoja.
UFC Mexico Co-Main Event
Counting his appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2021, Torres has logged four first round stoppages, with his only loss in the UFC coming against the equally surging lightweight bruiser Ignacio Bahamondes.
A staple of the 155-lb division for the past 11 years, Dober has played a part in several of the most entertaining slugfests the category has ever seen. Pitted opposite a top-ranked finisher like Torres, the Nebraska native’s 24th walk to the cage can only result in a firefight that will leave fans on the edge of their seats.
More Bouts On the UFC Mexico Main Card
On the rest of the main card at UFC Mexico, Kelvin Gastelum takes on Contender Series standout Joe Pyfer. Promising bantamweight prospect Raúl Rosas Jr. battles Vince Morales. Then, David Martinez goes toe-to-toe with Saimon Oliveira. Finally, Ronaldo Rodríguez opens the card versus Kevin Borjas.
