3 Female Fights Added To UFC Vegas 105

UFC Vegas 105 Gets 3 Female Fights

UFC Vegas 105 which goes down at the UFC Apex on April 5th has just had three new fights added to the card, each of them carrying a strong Brazilian flavor.

There is no main event announced as of yet for UFC Vegas 105 that date but the first couple of fights for the card were confirmed earlier in the week, with two of the winners from the last season of Dana White’s Contender Series (Luis Gurule and Daniel Frunza) set to face two fighters who are battling to save their UFC careers following successive losses inside the Octagon (Ode Osbourne and Rhys McKee).

The three latest additions to the fight card all take place in the women’s divisions.

UFC Vegas 105: Vanessa Demopoulos vs. Talita Alencar

Former LFA champion Vanessa Demopoulos (11-6 MMA, 5-3 UFC) returns to take on former IBJJF world jiu-jitsu champion Talita Alencar (5-1-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) in a fascinating matchup in the strawweight division.

Demopoulos will be looking to bounce back and regain some momentum after being submitted by Jaqueline Amorim in the opening round of her last bout in September. Prior to that outing, “Lil Monster” had won four of her five previous fights and had been making waves at 115 lbs.

Talita Alencar also suffered a defeat last time out at the hands of Stephanie Luciano in August. Having won her UFC debut the previous December against Rayanne Amanda by way of split decision, “Problem Child” may be feeling a sense of urgency going into this next contest.

UFC Vegas 105: Loma Lookboonmee vs. Ariane Carnelossi

Also in the strawweight division at UFC Vegas 105, Thailand’s Loma Lookboonmee (9-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC) will look to extend her impressive winning streak when she faces Ariane Carnelossi (15-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC).

Lookboonmee (whose real name is Suphisara Konklak) has won five of her last six outings and has beaten two Brazilian opponents in her last three fights. What has perhaps held her back a little is her relative inactivity in comparison to her rivals at 115 lbs.

The 29-year-old fought just once in 2022, once again in 2023, and the same last year.

She faces another Brazilian this time around in Carnelossi who, coincidentally, has only fought four times in the past four years, during which time she picked up three stoppage victories.

Both of these fighters seem to be in relatively good form going into UFC Vegas 105 but it’s clear they need to see the inside of the Octagon a little more frequently if they are to make any headway in the strawweight division.

UFC Vegas 105: Dione Barbosa vs. Diana Belbiţă

Dione Barbosa (7-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) is the third Brazilian female fighter announced this week to be fighting at UFC Vegas 105. “The Witch” clinched her spot in the big leagues late in 2023 by way of a submission win over Rainn Guerrero on Dana White’s Contender Series before going on to beat Ernesta Kareckaite in her Octagon debut at UFC 301.

After losing by decision to Miranda Maverick in July she will look to return to winning ways against Diana Belbiţă (15-9 MMA, 2-5 UFC) that weekend.

Belbiţă has struggled during her UFC career to date, losing three of her last four fights. She only competed once in 2024, tapping to an armbar from Molly McCann in the final second of the opening round of their bout last February.

Should she lose again this time around in UFC Vegas 105 she may find herself looking for another promotion.

Georgian Veteran Rumored To Return At UFC Vegas 105

Also rumored (but not yet confirmed) to be taking place at UFC Vegas 105 is a lightweight contest between Giga Chikadze and David Onama.

Georgian veteran Chikadze (15-4 MMA, 8-2 UFC) enjoyed an electrifying start to his UFC career winning his first seven fights in the Octagon between 2019-2021 but has struggled of late, losing to both Calvin Kattar and Arnold Allen either side of a win over Alex Caceres.

“The Silent Assassin” David Onama (13-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) had an excellent 2024 picking up wins over Johnathan Pearce and Roberto Romero and is rumored to be welcoming Chikadze to the lightweight division.
