Boxing and MMA are normally like oil and water, however that’s not the case for Olympic Boxing Gold Medalist Howard Davis Jr. He created Florida based Fight Time Promotions in late 2010 and this weekend the organization will hold their 18th event.

US Olympic Gold Medalist in Boxing Promotes MMA

The first event of 2014 goes down on February 7 — Fight Time 18 “Guts & Glory” will feature 14 action packed fights. Florida’s American Top Team are featured at the event, as former UFC fighter Yoislandy “Cuba” Izquierdo and Mike Bruno will be in action on the main card.

Coming from a boxing background, many may wonder why he is pursuing MMA and not what he knows in boxing.

“MMA has grown so fast that there’s a fan in almost every corner.  Boxing has a rich history and you really can’t compare the two.  MMA continues to grow leaps and bounds; I’m just honored to be able to contribute,” Davis mentioned.

Fight Time Promotions believes they stand out from the other MMA organizations because they are a family run business and they definitely take their pride in that.

“Fight Time Promotions is a family-owned business and that’s what makes it stand out. We run a very efficient operation and we know what we’re going to do a year in advance.  We’re the only company in the State of Florida that holds both Professional and Amateur MMA events,” said Davis. “We’ve turned nearly 70 amateur fighters into professionals in the last two years and I’m very proud to be able to help some of the younger fighters. We’ve also been able to feature up and coming stars like our current Lightweight Champion Vagner Rocha, who fought before in the UFC.  Other fighters who’ve fought for Fight Time Promotions before includes: Jeff “The Snowman” Monson, 10X UFC Veteran Wilson Gouveia and one of the top female fighters around: Jessica Aguilar.  Our company is for all fighters and we offer them a home in Sunny South Florida.”

“We’re very happy to be back in 2014 to continue to give fans consistent action-packed MMA fights and our fighters always put on great fights,” said the Fight Time Promotions CEO. “Our doors are open to experienced fighters who’ve been in the spotlight and want to fight on a consistent basis to those beginning their careers and need guidance with the right promotion,” the former Olympic Boxing Gold Medalist added.

The Fight Time Promotions’ events are televised on tape delay via HBO Plus & Comcast Sports Southeast.
