Video: Dominick Cruz feels Urijah Faber will beat Scott Jorgensen because he’s able to mix up takedowns with strikes

The UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz is sidelined due to injury and won’t be back at it for quite some time still. Two of his former opponents, Urijah Faber and Scott Jorgensen however will square off in the main event at the TUF 17 Finale and Cruz gives a little breakdown of how that fight will go down.

Check out the video below thanks to Rick Lee.

“I’ve fought both these guys and this is a good stylistic match-up. The question is, has Urijah Faber big brothered Scott Jorgensen? Because they’ve trained together. faber has a tendency where he trains with these guys and he beats them down in the gym, I believe this is my own mindset. Then he is like, ‘I already beat you in the gym, you can’t beat me in a fight either homie.’ I see Faber doing that with a lot of the guys he trains with, I saw him do that to Brian Bowles. I feel he big brothered Brian Bowles. He trained with him in the past in the gym a little bit, I think he kind of got into Bowles head a little bit and Bowles didn’t look like himself going out there against Faber at all. I have seen Bowles look very sharp, but he just didn’t want anything to do with Faber once he got in there. That’s the question. Jorgensen to me is the more mentally sharp, he’s got all those years of wrestling. He’s a Pac-10 champion in wrestling; the guys a beast. He’s extremely durable, he’s got great wrestling which is going to make it hard for Faber to take down. He’s picking up his striking; he’s a powerful puncher and his ground and pound is great. I see them matching up very similarly – they’re both ground and pound grapplers, that’s their biggest strength. They’re going to be standing up because their wrestling is going to nullify each other. So, I see somewhat of a stand-up bout. I think Faber is going to pull it out because I think he’s got the speed and the explosive advantage striking and then his takedowns mixed with that is what he does very well. He’s able to hide his takedowns with his power strikes a little bit better than Jorgensen is and that’s why I see Faber winning that fight.”
