Vitor Belfort injured and forced to withdraw from UFC 147

The main event of UFC 147 has gone down the tube, as Vitor Belfort has had to pull out of his fight with Wanderlei Silva due to injury. The two coaches of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil were expected to face-off against each other in the main event of UFC 147.

UFC President Dana White announced the injury at the UFC 146 post-fight press conference.

UFC 147 was originally supposed to be headlined by Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen II, however due to the United Nations conference happening in Brazil that same weekend the UFC was forced to move that fight to UFC 148 in Las Vegas. The organization then placed Belfort vs. Silva in the main event slot.

Silva is expected to stay on the card, as White stated that the UFC is currently seeking a replacement for Belfort. However, no announcement has been made yet.
