The Walkout Consultant: UFC 222 Walkout Songs

UFC 222 Walkout Songs

This Saturday night, live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV, UFC 222 will go down. Headlined by Cris “Cyborg” Justino defending her UFC featherweight crown against Yana Kunitskaya, this is a card primed for a fighter to make their mark. For a fighter to truly make that mark, however, they need the full package. Exciting fights certainly don’t hurts their chances of standing out in the crowded roster, but many fighters need that something more outside of the cage. Like a signature entrnace. That’s where I come in. As MMASucka.com’s resident musicologist, I can help. Putting my knowledge to work, I can help these wayward fighters find more suitable UFC 222 walkout songs. Songs that would help them make an impact with fans. I’m even sharing these suggestions with you, the fans. So, without further ado, here… We… Go!

Sean O’Malley

What he last walked out to: “Party and Bullshit in the USA” – Miley Cyrus and Notorious B.I.G.

What he should walk out to next: “Pour Some Sugar on Me” – Def Leppard

Unlike “The Korean Superboy” Doo Ho Choi, “Sugar” Sean O’Malley has not yet grasped the concept of an all-encompassing brand based on his nickname. Whereas Choi walks out to the theme from the movie Superman, O’Malley walks out to mash-up remix that doesn’t have any link to his nickname whatsoever. This should be rectified. To that end, I propose the young Mr. O’Malley make his way out to Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar on Me.” Nobody’s using it right now, it has a distinct and instantly recognizable intro, and is on-brand in terms of his nickname. If you’re still not sure, just listen below.

Hector Lombard

What he last walked out to: “Victory” – Notorious B.I.G. feat. Puff Daddy

What he should walk out to next: “It’s Time for War” – LL Cool J

Hector Lombard had the bad luck of walking out to a song that’s starting to get over-used in his last fight. “Victory” is a great walkout song, no doubt, but it doesn’t help you stand out anymore. A song with an equal amount of power, and perhaps with lyrics perhaps more befitting of Lombard’s veteran status, is LL Cool J’s “It’s Time for War.” Built upon a foundation of a strings and aggressive beats, “It’s Time for War” would be a superb choice of entrance music for Lombard. Listen below.
