When there is a UFC doubleheader, such as this weekend, there are bound to be a some clunky walkout songs. While I covered UFC Fight Night 99 yesterday, today we look at UFC Fight Night 100. As is common on Brazilian cards, there will be some people with inappropriate, over-used, or just plain bad entrance music. This is where I, as MMASucka.com’s resident board-certified musicologist. jump in.

What he should walk out to next: “Can I Kick It” – A Tribe Called Quest
First off, there should be a ban on any walkout song that can be linked to a Kardashian by more than two degrees of separation. That means no Kanye West, no Ray Jay, no Tyga. Besides, this ode to gold diggers is not the song of a bad-ass. Kamaru Usman is a bad-ass, and deserves something that has some pop as his walk out. So, we go old-school and reach into the singles of A Tribe Called Quest with “Can I Kick It.” You can’t ever go wrong walking out to ATCQ, not with the boom-bap sound to get you hyped. What he should walk out to next: “Going the Distance” – Bill Conti
Now, it’s not that walking out to “Gonna Fly Now” or “Eye of the Tiger” is bad, per se. No, this is more an issue of over-use. So if you’re Cezar “Mutante” Ferreira, why not stick to the same Rocky soundtrack and use Conti’s “Going the Distance”? Some of you may recognize it from the song “Victory” by Puff Daddy, which sampled pretty much the entire song. Listen below if you need a refresher.
