The Walkout Consultant: UFC Fight Night 102

FightPass-exclusive cards like UFC Fight Night 102 are one of the rare times where you’ll get to hear every fighter’s walkout music. This allows a competitor to capture the hardcore fan’s imagination with an inspired entrance selection. A mediocre song will be forgotten, and a bad one will be mercilessly mocked by more people than just me. This is why I’m here. As MMASucka.com’s resident board-certified musicologist, I’m here to help. I’m here to publicly direct a fighter to something more unique, or away from something that’s simply wack. So sit down, throw on our headphones, and let’s go for a ride.

Corey Anderson

What he walked out to last: “New Level” – A$AP Ferg feat. Future

What he should walk out to next: “Click” Torae feat. Skyzoo & DJ Premier

Corey Anderson may be “Beastin’ 25/8,” but his UFC 198 walkout to A$AP Ferg’s “New Level” certainly wasn’t. Another modern hip-hop bore, I would be shocked if it got Anderson’s pulse pumping even a beat faster. For a man who is beasting that it ignores standard measurements of time, a more triumphant song is required. Enter Torae, with “Click.” An artist that’s flown under the radar of many, “Click” encompasses that NYC sound that is guaranteed to raise your confidence to a truly new level. Check it below.

Sean O’Connell

What he walked out to last: “Pursuit of Happiness” – Kid Cudi feat. MGMT

What he should walk out to next: “The Flameout” – Soilwork

Let’s be real: A song about the indulging in hedonistic pleasures doesn’t seem all that congruent with a man who wrote a novel about apocalyptic battles between angels and demons. Sean O’Connell is undoubtedly a complex man if he can write that kind of work, and thus should walk out to something that better suits his character. Swedish metallers Soilwork have made a career out of songs about the mental battles between good and evil, with “The Flameout” being part of that proud tradition. With a punchy intro and strong chorus, it would suit a man with O’Connell’s gravitas far better than the lightweight hip-hop of Kid Cudi. Listen below.
