WAR MMA announces card for debut show and ruleset

WarMMAmaincard
The first card for Nick Diaz’ WAR MMA promotion is starting to come together now with the announcement of the main card. The main event will see former UFC competitor and Cesar Gracie trainee Daniel “Ninja” Roberts (13-4) take on Justin Baesman (12-4) at welterweight, while fellow Cesar Gracie fighter Caleb Mitchell (4-3) will do battle with the Ralph Gracie-trained Evan Esguerra (7-5) in a featherweight bout in the co-main.

Nick Diaz and his partners also announced that they will be competing in a ring as opposed to a cage, similar to Affliction MMA, and will be utilizing the Unified Rules of MMA – with one exception.  Elbows on the ground will be banned from use in WAR MMA, as Diaz feels that, “permitting elbows on the ground encourages holding & stalling.”
