World’s First Ring Magazine Card Set for April 26th

It’s official, the world’s first Ring Magazine card, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, is set for April 26th. The card is named after the upcoming release of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, a collaboration between SNK and Ring Magazine.

Headlining the fight card, set to take place from the Tottenham Stadium in London will be the grudge match between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn. The two were set to meet in October 2022, however, Benn, very publicly failed a drug test, testing positive for clomifene.

Benn has been banned by the British Boxing Board of Control for a prolonged period of time, only fighting twice since his failed test. On both of these occasions he was forced to fight in the USA to gain a licence and on both occasions, he scored unanimous decision victories.

Eubank Jr has had three fights since the cancelled Benn fight, losing to Liam Smith, avenging that loss and then returning in October to score a seventh-round knockout.

The build-up for this one will be full of bad blood, hateful comments and tension every time they meet.

Remainder of the Ring Magazine Card

Anthony Yarde vs Lyndon Arthur III

Anthony Yarde and Lyndon Arthur will meet in a trilogy bout to truly determine who is the better boxer. The two first met in December 2020 when the underdog, Arthur, pulled off the upset victory, winning the bout via split decision.

They rematched a year later when Yarde blew Arthur away in under five rounds to win the Commonwealth and WBO Inter-Continental light-heavyweight titles that he lost in the first bout.

Since the two last met, Arthur has gone 5-1, only losing to Dmitry Bivol. Yarde has gone 4-1, only losing to Artur Beterbiev. This one is going to be highly contested across 12 rounds… if it lasts that long.

Liam Smith vs Aaron McKenna

One man who knows Chris Eubank Jr very well is Liam Smith. After Benn’s drug test fiasco, Smith was matched with Eubank Jr in what had a bitter build-up. On the first occasion, Smith became the first man to defeat Eubank Jr via stoppage when he took a little over 10 minutes to blow Eubank away.

The two rematched and Eubank finished things this time, taking 10 rounds to do so. Smith was reportedly injured, however, it takes nothing away from Eubank’s performance. Smith has been out of action since then, taking all of 2024 off.

The Liverpool native meets Aaron McKenna, a relatively inexperienced fighter compared to Smith. He’s 11 years Smith’s junior and has just 19 fights to Smith’s 38. He’s been flawless across those 19 wins, however, notching 10 knockout victories on his journey thus far.

It’s a huge step up in competition for McKenna… is he up to the test? Does Smith have anything left? We’ll find out on the Ring Magazine card on April 26th.

Chris Billam-Smith vs Brandon Glanton

The Gentleman, Chris Billam-Smith returns to action after losing out to Gilberto Ramirez last time out, surrendering his WBO cruiserweight title. On that occasion he was thoroughly outboxed by Ramirez, snapping an impressive 11 fight winning run.

The Brit will face Brandon Glanton on his comeback trail. Bulletproof is 20-2 in his professional career, holding the exact same record as Billam-Smith, however, he certainly has a power advantage over his opponent. With 17 knockouts to his name, Glanton is one to be feared.

Viddal Riley vs Chev Clarke

This isn’t the fight that everyone wanted, nor was it the fight that was originally scheduled, however, it will still be a competitive knock. Viddal Riley was scheduled to clash with Issac Chamberlain, however, the latter had to withdraw from the bout due to injury.

Riley will now clash with Chev Clarke, the British and WBA Intercontinental Cruiserweight champion. Clarke is a tough test for Riley. Despite only holding a 10-1 career, he’s experienced in the amateurs, making the 2020 Olympics squad for Team GB. Although he lost last time out, Clarke is still dangerous and that loss will have only made him more hungry to get back in the win column.
