A middleweight battle has been added to the UFC on FUEL TV 8 card, as Yushin Okami will take on Hector Lombard.
UFC Officials announced the match-up late Monday night.
Okami (28-7) is currently riding a two fight winning streak with victories over Buddy Roberts and most recently Alan Belcher at UFC 155. “Thunder” was widely considered the number one contender in the middleweight division for the longest time, but when he finally got his title shot he failed against middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva. He looks to climb the ladder again with a win over Lombard.
Lombard (32-3-1) came over from Bellator on an outstanding 24-0-1 run, which included capturing the Bellator middleweight championship. In his UFC debut he was handed his first loss in over five years at the hands of Tim Boetsch. He then rebounded in his latest bout with a big knockout win over Rousimar Palhares at UFC on FX 6 this past December.
UFC on FUEL TV 8 is set to go down from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan on March 3, 2013. Headlining the UFC’s return to Japan are two middleweight sluggers as Brian Stann takes on Wanderlei Silva.
