The ‘injury bug’ has attacked UFC 180 a lot, which takes place in less than a month in Mexico City, and another fight is off, as Joe Lauzon (24-9) has been forced to pull out of his main card brawl with Diego Sanchez (25-7) due to unknown injury.

MMAjunkie.com first reported the injury on Wednesday evening.

Lauzon was supposed to serve as a replacement for Norman Parke, who was originally set to face Sanchez but also had to pull out due to injury.  No word has been said yet on a replacement, or even if Sanchez will remain on the card or moved to a different card taking place later this year.

Lauzon last picked up his second straight win early last month at UFC Fight Night 50 in Connecticut, where he picked up a TKO win over Michael Chiesa and another ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus.  He would’ve been looking for his 14th UFC bonus, and he very well could’ve, as this could’ve been a very good fight.

Sanchez last picked up a very highly controversial split decision victory last June, over Ross Pearson in his hometown, Albuquerque, NM.  That ended a two fight losing streak over Gilbert Melendez and Myles Jury.

UFC 180 takes place at Arena Mexico on Nov. 15 in Mexico City.  It was originally to be headlined by the heavyweight champion making his return to the Octagon for the first time in over a year, Cain Velasquez, taking on #1 contender Fabricio Werdum.  Velasquez got injured and Mark Hunt stepped in, now fighting Werdum for the interim heavyweight title.
