After four years at the top, Jon Jones has been stripped of his UFC light heavyweight title.

He is facing felony charges because he crashed into a pregnant woman’s car on Sunday morning and fled the scene.  He turned himself in on Monday night, only to be released after posting $2,500 in bail.

UFC President Dana White broke the news on FOX Sports 1 on Tuesday night.

He has also been suspended indefinitely.

205-pound contender Daniel Cormier is filling in for ‘Bones’, and is set to take on Anthony Johnson for the vacant light heavyweight belt next month at UFC 187, where Jones was supposed to defend his strap vs. ‘Rumble’.

Cormier is coming off a decision loss to Jones this past January at UFC 182.  He owns wins over Dan Henderson and Patrick Cummins since making the drop down in weight.

Johnson has gone 3-0 since re-signing to the promotion, including a decision over Phil Davis, and stoppages over ‘Lil Nog’ and Alexander Gustafsson.

UFC 187 takes place live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 23.
