The fans in Germany won’t get to see two of the light heavyweight division’s best anymore, as Alexander Gustafsson has been forced out of the UFC Fight Night 69 main event against Glover Teixeira.
Gustafsson injured, Jedrzejczyk vs Penne new UFC Fight Night 69 main event
UFC officials announced the injury on Friday morning and that UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk will defend her belt for the first time against former Invicta FC champ Jessica Penne.
Jedrzejczyk (9-0) is 3-0 in the Octagon and undefeated in her MMA career. After two decision victories in her first two outings, the Polish fighter slaughtered former champion Carla Esparza to take home the 115-pound gold. That victory also earned her $50,000 for ‘Performance of the Night’ honors.
Penne (12-2) was a member of Team Pettis on TUF 20 and lost to Esparza in the semi-finals. In the finale, the 32-year-old defeated Randa Markos via split decision to earn her first UFC victory and ‘Fight of the Night’ honors.
UFC Fight Night 69 goes down on June 20 from the O2 World Berlin in Berlin, Germany.
