Firas Zahabi: I’d Rather Him Go Down To 155

|

Dana White previously said it was only a matter of time before he would have to make the fan anticipated “Super Fight” between Georges St-Pierre and Anderson Silva. Today however, on Sherdog radio Georges’ trainer Firas Zahabi was asked about his thoughts on him moving up to 185lbs to fight Anderson and his answer you may find shocking.

I have recommended to Georges – the only reason I don’t recommend it now is because Frankie Edgar is the champion, but I’d want him to move down to 155 if Frankie was not the champion.” Zahabi then continued, “I’d rather him go down to 155 because Georges is not a very big welterweight…and him making 170 is extremely easy for him.

With that being said, it looks like we won’t be seeing that “Super Fight” between GSP and Silva anytime soon if it’s up to Zahabi. To most GSP seems like a fairly large welterweight, but Zahabi said that some loss in muscle mass would not be too difficult for Georges.

What do you Sucka’s think? Is this a ploy for GSP not to fight Silva? Will he reign at lightweight?
