Weekend MMA Recap: War Machine Defeats Huerta, Bellator 59 Tourney Finals and Zaromskis Somersaults

– Jon Koppenhaver who is now known as War Machine defeated Roger Huerta in the main event of Ultimate Warrior Fighting 1 in Pharr, Texas. War Machine who is making his return to the cage following a one year stint at the George Bailey Detention Facility after being convicted of felony assault, defeated Huerta by TKO late in the third round.

Lmao! Guess I cant do shit right. Im not going anywhere bitches so get use to my face. Gonna keep rackin up W’s just to spite you all. – via War Machine’s Twitter

– Live on the Jersey strip at Caesars Atlantic City, Bellator 59 went down. It was one hell of a card, which featured the Bantamweight and Heavyweight Tournament finals. The first tournament bout was the bantamweight matchup where Eduardo Dantas defeated Alexis Vila by Unanimous Decision to earn the right to fight the current champ Zach Makovsky. Unfortunately the main event of the evening was ruled a no contest after Thiago Santos hit Eric Prindle with an accidental groin strike in round 1. The highlight of the night, well maybe not such a highlight, but following Kurt Pellegrino’s loss at the hands of Patricky Pitbull he announced his retirement to his hometown crowd.

This isn’t the way I wanted it to end. You know, walking up the stairs I wanted to honestly tell you that you guys would never ever ever see me fight again unless you’re watching old tapes. It’s just getting a little hard. I missed my daughter’s first words, which were ‘dad,’ preparing for this fight. I don’t know what I want to do, but as of right now I’m done. I think I’m done… I don’t know what to do. I wanted to retire today.

–  In the main event of Saturday’s KSW 17 event in Poland, Polish strongman Mariusz Pudzianowski defeated James Thompson by Unanimous Decision victory. The decision was highly controversial Thompson clearly won the first round, so it should have gone to an overtime round. Check the video below to see how upset Thompson was…

– Finally at Rumble of the Kings 2011, Marius Zaromskis used a highlight-reel somersault head kick to knock Bruno Carvalho to the mat where he finished him with some serious ground and pound.
