Johnny Bedford Replaces Demetrious Johnson, Takes on Eddie Wineland at UFC on Fox 2

|

The UFC announced days ago that Demetrious Johnson would move to the flyweight division and fight in the inaugural UFC flyweight tournament in March. This would mean that Johnson’s opponent Eddie Wineland would be without an opponent for their fight at UFC on Fox 2. Look no further, former Ultimate Fighter contestant Johnny Bedford has stepped in and taken the challenge. Bedford announced the matchup via his  Twitter account.

“It’s official! I am fighting ex WEC champ Eddie Wineland at UFC on Fox in Chicago on Jan 28.”

Bedford is coming off of a one sided victory over TUF 14 housemate  Louis Gaudinot at the finale earlier this month. He will look to make it two in a row in the octagon.

Wineland is on the other end of the stick, with two losses in a row. He has lost two consecutive decisions to Joseph Benavidez and Urijah Faber in the UFC. Wineland was a former WEC champion.

UFC on Fox 2 is set to take place on Jan. 28 at Chicago’s United Center and will feature Phil Davis vs. Rashad Evans in the main event.
