The TUFest Report: Episode two

|

Last week the inaugural episode of The Ultimate Fighter Live kicked off with a group of thirty-two UFC hopefuls being turned into a series of sixteen fighters looking to get a six-figure contract with the elite MMA organization.

Tonight MMASucka.com will have you covered with the full report on everything that goes down in the house, in the cage or wherever else this episode takes us.

Our sixteen hopefuls enter the house doing a tour of the house before we cut to the coaches picking teams with Justin Lawrence, Daron Cruickshank, Al Iaquenta and Sam Sicilia being the top targets for the coaches.

Team Cruz:

Justin Lawrence, Sam Sicilia, Myles Jury, Mike Rio, Vincent Pichel, Joe Proctor, Chris Tickle, Jeremy Larsen

Team Faber:

Al Iaquinta, Cristiano Marcello, Daron Cruickshank, James Vick. Mike Chiesa, John Cofer, Andy Ogle, Chris Saunders

We continue with each coach having a short training session montage to feel out their team and determine the strengths and weaknesses of them when gone longer than a few minutes.

The first confrontation between Cruz and Faber with Faber accusing the champion of saying that his parents brought him a gym that frustrated the Faber family.

“The California Kid” made his first fight pick pitting James Vick of Team Cruz against Daron Cruikshank on his team.

Mike Ciesta got the unfortunate news that his father had passed away, his health had been an issue for quite some time but no doubt would be a painful experience for him.

Ciesta is forced to make the hard decision on whether he continues to chase his dream of being in the UFC or whether he goes home to be with his family in this time of need.

Ciesta meets with UFC Preident Dana White who graciously gives him the opportunity to go home, see his family for a day and return to the house afterwards.

As we near fight time we show training montages we show of Vick getting trained by Cruz and his series of trainers hitting pads and rolling on the mat to get him prepared for this fight as he walks in the underdog to the muay-thai stylist.

With nine minutes until fight time we have a montage for Cruikshank working on the submission game of the striker so hes prepped and finished showing off his power and technique in the striking department.

Ciesta returns to the house after his day away and returns telling the story of how his father held on just to see him fight on television and win into the Ultimate Fighter house.

Time to weigh-in as both are on point as we are five minutes away from them stepping into the cage.

We are officially live as Jon Anik sends us backstage to the locker rooms as the coaches speak with their fighters giving them last minute advice before they go to war.

James Vick vs. Daron Cruikshank

Herb Dean on assignment here tonight, we get our first upset of the season as Cruikshank was showing off his taekwondo skills moving forward throwing a barrage of knees, punches, spinning back fists and elbows and looked firmly in the drivers seat before he came in without his defenses up and got nailed with a knee to the face that had him unconscious before he hit the mat.

James Vick advances with a knockout (knee) at 2:16 of the first round

Post-fight Vick explains that he intended to throw a kick but landed with a knee that did the job and was thrilled to take control for his team while Cruikshank was a man of little words stating he didn’t remember much and will look to prepare his team best over the next eleven weeks.

Cruz gets the next fight pick as he chooses his top seed Justin Lawrence and gave Faber the opportunity to pick his opponent but eventually took the reigns again choosing Cristiano Marcello to fight.

Join us next week as we look to do all this all over again.
