The never ending rotation that is UFC 146 has continued. The all heavyweight main card has once again been affected, but this time by injury.
Roy Nelson was originally slated to face Antonio “Big Foot” Silva, but Silva got moved up to fight Cain Velasquez. Then stepping in was supposed to be Gabriel Gonzaga, however he has since withdrawn due to a back injury. Now taking his place to take on Nelson is Dave “Pee Wee” Herman.
UFC officials announced the new match-up on Tuesday evening.
Another move on the UFC 146 card has happened, this time in the lightweight division. After a stint in various other organizations, including the WEC where he was the lightweight champion, Jamie Varner will be making his return to the UFC. It was five years ago that Varner graced the octagon, this time around he will be facing Edson Barboza.
Barboza’s original opponent, Evan Dunham was forced to withdraw due to injury.
UFC officials also confirmed this fight late Tuesday evening.
UFC 146 is set to go down from the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 26.
