Bibiano Fernandes snubs the UFC, pens a deal with ONE Fighting Championship instead

Just a few months ago, reports indicated that DREAM Bantamweight Champion Bibiano Fernandes, had signed a contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. It was even announced that the Brazilian would be locking horns with Roland Delorme, at UFC 149.

Fernandes, however, claimed that while negotiations had indeed taken place between the 2 parties, a contract was never signed. It appeared that the 32-year-old was weighing his options, and immediately backed out once ONE FC offered him a more lucrative contract.

Now, though, ONE Fighting Championship has officially signed the Brazilian born fighter. The announcement was made through the promotion’s official Twitter and Facebook pages.

Fernandes, who is 11-3 in his professional MMA career, has wins over the likes of Masakazu Imanari, Joe Warren and Antonio Banuelos. He held both the Featherweight and Bantamweight straps in the now defunct DREAM promotion.

The Brazilian Fighter is expected to make his promotional debut at ONE FC 5: Pride of a Nation, which goes down August 31st in Manilla, Philippines.
