Matt Hamill is back, fights UFC newcomer Roger Hollett at UFC 152

Don’t call it a comeback.

After a one-year retirement from the sport, “The Ultimate Fighter” season three cast member Matt “The Hammer” Hamill (10-4) will return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship on Sept. 22 to face UFC newcomer Roger Hollett (13-3) in a light heavyweight bout.

Yahoo! Sports announced the news on Friday afternoon.

Hamill, 35, was last seen at UFC 133 in Aug. 2011 where he lost to highly-regarded 205-pound prospect Alexander Gustaffson. Following the bout, Hamill decided to call an end to his six-year, 14-fight career. However, like most fighters who retire from the sport, Hamill could not stay away for long as he will return to the organization he has fought all but one of his professional fight in when he competes in Canada for the first time at UFC 152.

The opponent for Hamill at the Sept. event will be relatively unknown Canadian fighter Roger Hollett. Hollett, 33, will make a stern leap in competition for his first fight in the organization when he takes on Hamill. Eleven of the 13 wins in the career of the Nova Scotia native have been finished inside the distance.

It is unknown at this time where the Hamill vs. Hollet bout will fall on the UFC 152 fight card, but it will likely be aired on FX.

UFC 152: Benavidez vs. Johnson takes places at the Air Canada Center in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Sept. 22.

Tickets for UFC 152 are on sale now.
