Melvin Guillard vs. Jamie Varner re-booked for UFC 155

|

In an odd turn of events, the Melvin Guillard vs. Jamie Varner fight was scratched from the TUF 16 Finale card this past weekend.

Just hours before their match-up was expected to take place, Varner began throwing up all over back stage while warming up. The Nevada State Athletic Commission would not allow him to compete.

Guillard was not impressed by the fact that the bout was scrapped and immediately began pointing fingers at Varner.

“I think what he done tonight was very cowardly. I saw the look in his eyes at weigh-ins, he didn’t want to fight me. I’ll just leave it at that, I’m not going to sit here and bash the guy, I have a level of respect for him as a person, but as a fighter I lost all respect for him.” – When speaking with FUEL TV following the announcement.

UFC officials announced that the plan was to move the match-up to UFC 155 in just two weeks time, however nothing has been made official. It looks as if it has come very close to being official, as Guillard took to his Twitter account on Sunday to announce the fight.

“Fighting varner in two Weeks UFC 155”

UFC 155 will go down on December 29 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Headlining the card will be a heavyweight championship fight between champ Junior dos Santos and number one contender Cain Velasquez.
