Yet another fight announced for UFC 158 and this time it’s another one in the welterweight division, as Canadian Sean Pierson will take on Rick Story.
UFC Officials announced the match-up on Tuesday.
Pierson (13-6) went 2-0 in 2012, racking up victories over Jake Hecht and Lance Benoist. The 36-year old made his UFC debut in Montreal at UFC 124 against Matt Riddle and will hope to come full circle and nab another win for his resume at UFC 158.
Story (14-6) was riding a five fight winning streak and was inching ever so close to a title shot, that was until he was derailed by Charlie Brenneman at UFC on Versus 4. This huge upset turned the tables for Story and since has gone 1-3 inside the Octagon. Most recently, “The Horror” lost to Demian Maia at UFC 153 back in October.
While Pierson is looking to cement his place in the welterweight division and keep his winning streak alive, Story is looking to get back in the win column and ultimately keep his job.
It is yet to be determined where on the UFC 158 fight card the Pierson vs. Story bout will take place.
UFC 158 goes down on March 16 from the Bell Center in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Headlining the event will be Georges St-Pierre putting his welterweight title on the line against Nick Diaz. A pair of welterweight battles will lead up to the main event, as Rory MacDonald looks to avenge his UFC 115 loss to Carlos Condit and Johny Hendricks will hope to keep his win streak alive against Jake Ellenberger.
